Second Havyard design for Sinopec

Under the contract, Havyard Group will deliver a design package for the construction of an 80m Havyard 832 platform supply vessel (PSV), which will be built at Mawei Shipbuilding’s shipyard in Fujien, China. The vessel will be used to support the company’s exploration and production activities in Chinese waters.

The contract follows the successful build of another Havyard design, 843 AHTS, which was completed in November 2012.

Gunnar Larsen, senior vice president, Havyard Group, said: “China has for a long time been a leading shipbuilding nation and the Chinese shipyards aim for more advanced offshore vessels. We see that the Chinese ship owners see the value in Norwegian technology and we believe this is a potential growing market for us. You have to be long term when operating in China and we are aiming for expanding our base of satisfied customers there.”

Sinopec is the second largest oil company in China and the largest producer and supplier of refined oil products.
