Gdansk launches new LNG ferry

The vessel will now proceed to Bergen Group Fosen for fitting – it will be fitted out with with numerous restaurants, a tax free shop and conference facilities.

The 170m long vessel will able to carry 1500 passengers and 600 cars, trucks and cargo. It will serve the Norway to Denmark route when it begins operations on 29 May.

Bergensfjord’s new sister ship Stavangerfjord is also currently under construction and will be ready for service this Autumn.

Both new cruisers will be powered by LNG and Fjord Line says that the technology reduces CO2 by around 23%, making these new ferries some of the most environmentally friendly in the world.

When completed, both vessels will serve on the routes between Langesung and Hirtshals (Denmark) and between Bergen, Stavanger and Hirtshals (Denmark).
