'GasLog Santiago'

SHI says the GasLog Santiago, a 155,000m³ tri-fuel diesel electric LNG carrier, was completed on budget and ahead of schedule.

The vessel, which has been classified to the ABS ENVIRO+ notation, has been designed to meet the highest level of environmental protection and energy conservation. It has also been equipped with a new type of cargo compressors made from secondary barrier and super-insulating materials. These will improve stability, reduce the release of greenhouse gases and offer enhanced cargo and heel management.

It will be operated by the company’s subsidiary, GasLog LNG Services Ltd, in accordance with its Marine Health, Safety, Quality, Environmental and Energy Management system, which was certified by ABS in December 2012.

It has already begun a medium term charter to Methane Services Ltd, part of UK based natural gas company, BG Group.

A further three LNG carrier newbuilds are scheduled for delivery this year, as well as two in 2014, one in 2015 and two in 2016.
