ADSS agreement

This agreement with NYK Lines Co. Ltd and Mitsui O.S.K Lines Co. Ltd means that three of the shippers’ vessels will now utilise the service and will be the first to use the service, which in addition to managing SCFs, stores electronic ship drawings.

ADSS consolidates and manages this data through a ship’s lifetime and shipowners can access the information 24 hours a day over the internet. It aims to protect intellectual property rights and provide easy access to important information.

VDSS will be used by NYK Lines 95,000dwt bulk carrier, Elegant salute, which was built at Imabari Shipbuilding’s Marugame Corporate Headquarters and the Mitsui O.S.K. Lines operated Jozen, also a 95,000dwt bulk carrier, built at Imabari Shipbuilding’s Marugume Corporate Headquarters. It will also be used by the Mitsui O.S.K. Lines owned Horaison, a 300,000dwt VLCC, built at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries’ Nagasaki shipyard.

Talks are still underway with regards to requirements surrounding the storage of Ship Construction Files (SCF) to bring them into line with IMO standards applicable to bulkers and tankers contracted from 1 July 2016.

But ClassNK says that its onshore SCF Archive Center will be ready when the requirements have been decided.
