The fastest LNG-fuelled ship uses Bestobell valve technology

Bestobell Valves produced 70 globe, check and thermal relief valves, which were supplied to Chart Ferox, a company based in the Czech Republic, which manufactured the fuel system for the Incat-built ferry, named Francisco. Bestobell adds that Chart Ferox, a manufacturer of cryogenic storage vessels, is a long-standing customer of over 20 years standing.

Francisco is not only the fastest LNG fuelled ship, it is currently the fastest ship of any type able to carry 1,000 passengers and 150 cars. The design of the Francisco with its wave piercing catamaran design, combined with its lightweight strong aluminium construction, has contributed to it achieving these high speeds.

Mark Henley, managing director of Bestobell’s parent group, said: “It is fantastic to hear that a vessel we have supplied with cryogenic valves has made such an amazing achievement. We are continually pushing the boundaries in valve design and technology as part of strategy to produce world class products.”

Bestobell Valves says that its valve technologies are designed and produced to meet the specific requirements of the marine sector, and are supplied to the majority of the major builders of LNG carriers and floating gas production units.
