Brian King, vice president engineering, EBDG, said that the move enables the company to better serve Alaskan clients serving to establish new business relationships and strengthen existing ones. The new office will also serve as a regional resource for quick reaction field engineering.

EBDG is already a member of the Ketchikan Marine Industry Council and thus has demonstrated its commitment to expanding the area’s marine industrial capacity.

Although EBDG is predominantly known as a workboat operator, it also offers blue water design and engineering services to large shipbuilders and operators.

Back in 2011, the group designed what was claimed to be the first purpose-built lightering support vessel (LSV) for the AET Offshore fleet. AET Innovator was intended to streamline ship-to-ship fuel transfers in the US Gulf.

The LSVs were designed to be easily built and easily operated, featuring less piping, ballast and cargo tankage, and with the incorporation of high-lift rudders to improve steering. They were also designed to carry more hoses and fenders and stay out at sea for longer.
