Mustang Technologies will represent the product in the Asean Free Trade Area (AFTA) in what NCS calls a growing market for “reliable data gathering and transparent management reporting.”

The company says that after ten years in the business, it can spot winners and it anticipates a large expansion in the region which it intends to cash in on.

Major oil companies who charter OSVs are increasingly requesting greater transparency from vessels under charter. The FuelTrax system collects bunkering and fuel consumption data and its FuelNet reporting tool provides web access to the data for all stakeholders involved in the charter.

By monitoring fuel flow, burn rates, fuel tank levels and bunker quantities and densities, the master can make real-time throttle adjustments that can help reduce fuel consumption on any given charter.

Charles Kathrein, CEO, Mustang Technologies, pointed out that while various sectors in the Asia Pacific shipping industry have been suffering from low rates, the OSV market is growing rapidly largely due to the growth in the offshore petroleum and natural gas markets.

Mr Kathrein added that Mustang intends to evangelise FuelTrax to vessel owners so that “they can provide the transparency that their customers desire while increasing charter opportunities.”
