Marin Teknikk says that the MT6022 is the next in a new generation of environmentally-friendly and advanced multifunctional offshore construction vessels. What will make it unique is that it will have a high focus on safety.

The design also has an emphasis on reduced fuel consumption and is equipped with the latest diesel electric technology to reduce exhaust emissions.

It will have a length of 107m and a breadth of 22m and will be equipped with a 250 tonne offshore crane and an arrangement for two unmanned submarines – which will be able to perform operations down to a depth of 4000m.

The vessel will be used to augment Oceaneering’s ability to provide subsea intervention services in the US Gulf of Mexico, including maintenance, repair, projects and hardware installations.

MT6022 is being built by BAE Systems Southeast Shipyard in the USA and will be ready for delivery by the end of the first quarter of 2016.
