Transas simulators for eastern training centres

Simulators will be supplied by Transas Middle East for the College of Maritime Transport and Technology and the Integrated Simulators Complex (ISC) in Egypt to enable trainees to acquire a wide range of navigational and engineering skills.

A new full mission engine room simulator (ERS) at the College will allow three-day training courses to be carried out with 3D visualisation that imitates various ship components and provides access to local operation posts and controls.

The liquid cargo handling simulator (LCHS 5000) supplied within the project is compliant with DNV 2.14 standard requirements and enables trainees to acquire skills for oil spill prevention and vessel ballast system control.

Four classrooms at the College will also be equipped with five navigational simulators, configured as mini bridges.

All the systems include a search and rescue module that provides full scope of training in SAR operations according to the IAMSAR manual and in compliance with IMO model course 3.13 requirements.

The simulators will allow training using various ship models including mega container, LNG ballast and general cargo vessels, PSVs and several types of tankers, among others.

At the Jordan Academy for Maritime Studies (JAMS), the latest generation of the Transas full mission ship simulator NTPRO 5000 with 240 degree visualisation and real ship controls will be installed.

Transas will also relocate the centre’s existing navigational simulator NTPRO 5000 and Transas GMDSS simulator 4000 classroom.

The new NTPRO 5000 features a realistic wind-generated sea state and variable swell mode with user-selected sea state spectrum, accurate vessel and wave interaction, full scene and environment reflection, and 3D bow waves and propeller wash.

It will provide opportunities for bridge team management training, including SAR operations.
