Imtech to supply electrics for gas-fuelled ferry
The scope of Imtech supply includes engineering, technical coordination and project management as well as ship automation system, switchgear, motor starters, distribution panels, lighting, the complete cable network, navigation systems and communication equipment.
The ferry, which is scheduled for delivery in 2015, will operate year-round between Helgoland in the North Sea and Cuxhaven on the mainland, carrying both passengers and cargo, with capacity for around 1,000 passengers and 10 cargo containers. It will travel at up to 20 knots. LNG fuel was chosen for its low CO2 emissions as well as negligible emissions of sulphur and nitrogen oxides.
