MacGregor subsea crane orders

Two active heave compensated subsea cranes will be sent to HHI for installation onboard a new 160m heavy construction vessel being built at the yard for the global offshore specialist, Subsea 7.

The cranes will support the vessel’s year round global deployment in deep offshore construction operations where high levels of load handling precision are required. The vessel is due for delivery in July 2015.

This order follows on from six AHC subsea cranes for three flex lay pipe laying vessels offshore vessels also bound for Subsea 7.

Meanwhile, the company has also secured an order for a 100 tonne SWL active heave compensated subsea crane for Wuchang Shipbuilding, which is part of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC).

The crane will be installed on the anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessel currently in construction for China Oilfield Service Ltd (COSL). The Rolls-Royce designed vessel is due for delivery in March 2015.

Once operational, the vessel will perform offshore services in the South China Sea and have the capacity to carry out deepwater work in areas such as Brazil, West Africa, the Gulf of Mexico and the North Sea.
