Kleven is to build two 127m OCVs for Volstad

The ships are to be built at Kleven’s Myklebust Verft yard and are scheduled to be handed over in December 2014 and mid-2015 respectively. They are to the Skipsteknisk ST259 CD design, and will be 127m in length, and have accommodation for 104 personnel. Ståle Rasmussen, Kleven CEO, described the ships as “two large and highly advanced vessels for subsea maintenance and construction work.”

Mr Rasmussen continued: “We very much look forward to working with the Volstad family again. Back in 1988, we built the trawler Volstad for the company.”

According to Kleven, the order was originally placed with another yard, Bergen Group Fosen, which built the OCV Grand Canyon for Volstad in 2012 to the same ST259 CD design. The project has now been sold to Kleven.
