MTU launches new marine genset engine
The new 1600 genset in its marine configuration delivers power outputs up to 323kW output and is designed for compliance with IMO Tier II and EPA Tier 3 emissions regulations. The base engine has been successfully employed in land-based power generation applications and is claimed to be both robust and cost-efficient, with maintenance intervals considerably longer than average and specific fuel consumption under 205g/kWh at full continuous power.
The genset engine meets classification society regulations in the commercial segment, as well as military demands with respect to acoustics, shock and magnetic signature.
