The new turbocharging service point will ensure service for customers in the yard as well as allow Drydocks World to draw upon ABB’s large global servicer network for support.

His Excellency Khamis Juma Buamim, chairman of Drydocks World and Maritime World, said: “The service point will definitely improve business volume from turbocharger overhauling and offer enhanced new services. It’s part of our strategy of enhancing efficiency and reducing fuel consumption and emissions.”

For ABB, the new turbocharger in Dubai represents moving forward with its Middle East expansion plans. Now ABB engineers and equipment will be permanently based inside the Drydocks World’s new service centre.

“In the Middle East, we see the need to be even closer to our customers. We are grateful to Drydocks World for entering into this partnership which will further our plans for expansion in the Middle East, with this new station in Dubai,” said John Fyfe, ABB area manager, Middle East and North East Africa.

He pointed out that the new service point will offer the full scope of services needed to maintain ABB turbochargers quickly and professionally.
