Croatia’s Uljanik shipbuilder receives two-tanker contract

Each vessel will have a length of some 183m and a width of 32.2m. The first vessel is scheduled to be delivered in September 2015, and the second in March 2016, Uljanik said in a filing to the Zagreb stock exchange (ZSE). The deal was signed on April 1, 2014.

The two tankers will be used to transport chemical and oil products, the Croatian company said. The value of the contract was not disclosed by Uljanik.

Established in 1856 and headquartered in Pula, the shipbuilder has two shipyards in Pula and Rijeka, both located on the Croatian Adriatic Sea shore. The tanker contract will be performed by the company’s Uljanik Brodogradilište d.d. shipyard in Pula. In addition to tankers, the facility has delivered bulk carriers, trailing suction hopper dredgers, wagon carriers as well as other types of vessels to both domestic and foreign-based customers, according to data released by Uljanik.

In 2013, the Croatian shipbuilder delivered a total of 17 vessels ranging between 2,400dwt and 51,890dwt.
