‘Ramform Challenger’ will visit GDD in Bremerhaven

Project manager Thorsten Pohle said that work to be carried out includes fitting a pre-manufactured bridge wing, checking the azimuth system, a minor refit of the seismic sector, and renewal of the provision plant and chiller. PGS has used the GDD repair yard before, with Pacific Explorer, Atlantic Explorer and Nordic Explorer all visiting in 2013

Although Ramform Challenger does not need to be docked, the distinctive shape with 39m width on only 86m length will be an interesting sight at the GDD-pier.

The 1996-launched Ramform Challenger’s delta-shaped Ramform hull design allows stable motion behavior at the stern, and provides a large aft deck for towing and storing seismic equipment. PGS has the rights to the vessel design and currently operates nine seismic vessels of this type. Ramform Challenger is equipped with 16 streamer reels and can tow an array of over 14.000 m² of electronic recording devices in daily operation, representing twice the data volume of conventional competitor ships.
