Island orders large OSV package from Rolls-Royce

Basic details of the order had previously been announced by Vard, and ship will be built to the UT 797 CX multi-function design, and will be named Island Victory. It is designed for a flexible operational profile, and will be one of the largest in the Island Offshore fleet. The hull will be built at Vard Tulcea in Romania, for completion at Vard Brevik in Norway.

Features of the 123m long ship include a 250 ton offshore crane, ROVs and a large moonpool, enabling the vessel to perform heavy anchor handling operations and deep subsea installation work. Deck area is 1,100m² and the vessel will be capable of 400t-plus bollard pull. It will be able to accommodate 110 people, which Rolls-Royce says makes it suitable for use as an accommodation vessel in addition to its other duties.
