Sinopacific sells own-design PSV to Mexico

According to Sinopacific, this is the first order from Mexico for its own-design ships. The three on order will be built at the Sinopacific Zhejiang shipyard and are expected to be delivered before the end of 2015. The SPP17A design comes from Sinopacific’s design subsidiary, Shanghai Design Associates, and is a small 1,700dwt PSV of 61.8m length oa, 14.0m moulded breadth, 5.8m moulded depth, 4.3m design draught and accommodation for 24 persons. The DPII-equipped SPP17A is claimed to offer high efficiency and low fuel consumption from its diesel-electric propulsion system. The design, which has previously been ordered by several European operators, is said to be optimised for high performance in terms of design parameters, stowage, ease of operation, comfort, and deadweight.

The new vessels will be used by Mexican state-owned oil company Pemex in the Gulf of Mexico. They form part of a fleet renewal plan by Naviera Petrolera Integral.
