MOL wins Green Flag award

The standard calls for ships to slow down to a speed of 12 knots or less when they are within 40 nautical miles of the shore to reduce levels of carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide and sulphur dioxide to help conserve the coastal environment.

Both ports offer the Green Flag award which offers annual rewards to vessel operators that achieve extraordinary compliance percentages.

Every year 250 MOL Group operated vessels, including carriers, tankers and bulkers, call at the TRAPAC terminal and navigate through the area covered by the speed standards.

MOL said it continually strives to contribute to environmental conservation not only in this area but at all other ports around the globe.
