Switching ownership
The firm continues to advance drive train technology under new ownership by Japan-based Yaskawa Electric Corporation (Yaskawa) and it said this new order will provide momentum for both companies to begin working more closely together.
“For our customers, our new owner ensures a solid partner, a firm foundation, an expanded product portfolio and the potential for innovative product R&D,” said Jukka-Pekka Mäkinen, president and CEO of The Switch.
“Japan represents a vast new market opportunity and untapped potential for our products. Moreover, Yaskawa offers our customers a gateway into Japan for their products.”
This new order placed by WE Tech Solutions will be delivered to its end-customer, Terntank Rederi AS of Denmark and Torvald Klaveness of Norway.
The PMM 1000 shaft generators will be supplied in two different lengths and will comply with two different marine classification societies.
Yaskawa Electric provides core technologies focused through the fields of motion control, robotics automation and systems engineering.
The company became the sole owner of The Switch in July 2014 as part of its strategy to grow its system engineering division’s market share in renewable, marine and industrial applications.
