Interschalt Bluetracker installation

The software will enable Rickmers to digitally monitor its fleet in terms of fuel consumption in real time anywhere in the world, promoting future cost savings.

Rickmers already uses Interschalt’s MACS3 loading computer and began trialling Bluetracker on some if its vessels earlier in the year.

“Bluetracker has impressed us across the board. The flexible system provides us with the required data and will help us to increase the efficiency of our fleet in the long term. We will be able to reduce our fuel consumption and hence emissions, which will also bolster our commitment to environmentally friendly shipping,” said Dr Georg Eljardt, director of maritime technology, Rickmers Shipmanagement.

An energy efficiency monitor will also be installed onboard the vessel and it by this that the crew will be able to take proactive measures to help achieve the shipper’s efficiency targets.

It will have the functionality to be able to analyse consumption and trim and compare several vessels simultaneously. Full installation on the entire fleet of 100 vessels should be completed within the next two years.

Robert Gärtner, CEO, Interschalt, said that in addition to the Rickmers deal, the company did well at this year’s SMM exhibition. “Overall, despite the ongoing shipping crisis, there was a very positive and motivational atmosphere. We are optimistic in every respect – both for the industry as a whole and our future business,” he said.
