New era navigation from Transas Marine

Among the company’s new launches was the Transas Navi-Planner 4000, offering a new way of voyage planning on a 46-inch multi-touch display. The large display is said to make the planning process easier, while integrated ENCs, weather data, digital publications, fuel monitoring, Notices to Mariners and piracy updates help optimise port-to-port voyages.

“It is time to move from conceptual view of e-Navigation to a practical execution phase. The release of the Transas recently launched T-Bridge and new software tools for voyage planning and fleet management is an important milestone towards that,” said Jens Pfeiffer, director, navigation, Transas Marine.

In addition, Transas introduced its updated FleetView Online fleet tracking service, which now offers extensive functionality to users through one interface. It also includes chart and data management, fuel efficiency monitoring, piracy information overlay, in addition to fleet tracking and ship security functionalities.

The last development introduced was Route exchange where the monitored route in ECDIS is sent to and displayed by the Transas FleetView Online service to shore fleet managers.

In the future, Transas says more information will automatically be exchanged between ship and shore, giving the ship operator a full view of a vessel’s performance.
