Royal IHC launches latest Subsea 7 vessel

The 145.9m Seven Rio is the second of four vessels ordered by Subsea 7 specifically for operation in Brazilian waters. It has a beam of 30m, a Class-2 dynamic positioning system and is equipped with a vertical lay system with a 550 tonne top tension capacity and twin ROVs.

“The launch of the Seven Rio is yet another milestone in the long and successful cooperation between Subsea 7 and IHC,” said Arjan Klijnsoon, managing director, offshore, IHC. “

We are proud to be providing Subsea 7 with another pipelaying vessel to join its sister vessel, the Seven Waves, in Brazilian waters,” he added.

This latest vessel also features two under-deck storage carousels, with a capacity for 2,500 tonnes and 1,500 tonnes of products.

Additional vessels constructed by IHC include three pipelaying vessels – Seven Oceans, Seven Seas and Seven Pacific – and a dive support vessels, Seven Atlantic. Seven Waves is another pipelaying vessel, which was delivered ahead of schedule earlier this year and is now in service with Petrobras.

When delivered in 2016, the Seven Cruzeiro and Seven Sun will complete the fleet of pipelaying vessels that will be working under contract for Petrobras in Brazil.
