Pacific Basin opts for ShipManager

Shipping firms often have various IT systems and suffer the challenges in aligning date input and output in order to achieve efficient decision making, reporting and ship-to-shore communication. ShipManager aims to integrate these functions into one.

Raghvendra Lavania, project manager, Pacific Basin, said: “The system is easy to learn, user-friendly and technically innovative. ShipManager will help to integrate our new accounting system and provide customised reports to manage our fleet efficiently.”

Pacific Basin will be using six ShipManager modules – Technical, procurement, project, crewing, QHSE and analyser. The modules will support the operator in generating dynamic operational expenditure reports and monitoring KPIs.

In particular, the analyser module allows for exceptional decision making as it extracts data from all of the other modules for data mining and analysis.

“This is expected to reduce a lot of manual work and give our fleet managers all information in one place. The system also allows the integration of data from previous solutions,” Mr Lavania added.

Pacific Basin’s current dry bulk fleet portfolio comprises over 250 vessels (including newbuildings on order), so with this strategic partnership DNV GL will be strengthening its technical and customer services capacity in the Asia-Pacific region.
