GE Marine unveiled

The company said it was building on the foundations laid by the formation of GE Global Offshore Marine in 2013. The organisation will combine the group’s diverse marine product range, which includes gas turbines, diesel engines, motors and generators, variable speed drives, drilling systems as well as automation and control systems and other electrical equipment.

Joe Mastrangelo, chief executive officer, GE Power Conversion said: “Today’s announcement reflects how GE’s focus is on growing its marine business around strong technology platforms. Our customers will benefit from a highly integrated, technologically rich solution for a wide range of marine applications.”

GE Marine said it could offer customers ‘world-class’ system integration capabilities and a global infrastructure, including a wealth of training and service facilities. The company also revealed it was building ‘industrial internet’ for its customers.

“The deeper meshing of the digital world with that of the marine industry provides the potential to bring about profound industry transformation, most notably in the areas of predictability, shipbuilding and marine propulsion,” a statement read.
