Rolls-Royce gas engines for FLNGV

The Bergen B35:40V20AG will be supplied for the contract with Keppel Shipyard for Golar LNG’s vessel. The gas engine is compact with leading environmental performance in terms of low emissions of NOx, CO2, SOx and particulates, and low energy consumption.

“We are excited to collaborate with Keppel Shipyard on this ground breaking conversion of Golar’s LNG carrier into an FLNGV through the supply of our Bergen gas engines,” said Richard Bowcutt, senior vice president, commercial marine, Asia Pacific, Rolls-Royce.

The power generated will mainly be used for the liquefaction processes and for supporting vessel operation and the energy needs of the crew onboard.

“The contract awarded by Keppel is recognition of the cost-efficiency of our engines and demonstrates the faith that the market has in our innovative single fuel LNG solutions,” Mr Bowcutt added.

Rolls-Royce’s contract with Keppel Shipyard includes an option for two additional engines for a second Golar LNG carrier to be converted, Gimi.

Delivery of the engines is scheduled for next year and the conversion of Hilli is expected to be completed in early 2017.
