IMO seeks hosts for maritime technology cooperation centres

The centres are part of a joint IMO-European Union project to build capacity for climate change mitigation in the shipping industry. They will be established and resourced to become centres of excellence in promoting ship energy efficiency technologies and operations, receiving a portion of the EU’s €10 million project fund.

Each centre will be hosted by an existing organisation (or consortium) with credible standing in its region, considerable engagement with industry and government, a track record of regional outreach and the ability to provide the centres with in-kind hosting support including office space and related logistical support.

In the first step of the selection process, the IMO is seeking expressions of interest from qualified organisations by 15 May. After conducting due diligence on short-listed entities, the IMO will then issue a call for full proposals.

The selected parties will contract with IMO to deliver mutually agree project objectives over three years.
