Multiple MAN order for Maran newbuilds
The new vessels, which will be built by Daewoo Shipping & Marine Engineering (DSME), were announced by Maran parent company Abgelicoussis Shipping Group at the recent Posidonia 2016 exhibition. They join four ME-GI powered LNG vessels currently on order for Maran Gas Maritime with DSME.
The two 173,400m3 capacity LNG carriers (length 295m, breadth 46m) for Maran Gas Maritime will each be fitted with two MAN B&W 5G70ME-C9.5-GI engines burning LNG and diesel. The vessels will fulfil IMO Tier III NOx emission limits in both modes thanks to an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system to be used during diesel operation.
The two 318,000dwt VLCCs (length 336m, breadth 60m) for Maran Tankers Management will each be powered by a single MAN B&W 7G80ME-C9.5 engine fitted with the latest fuel saving technologies and an EGR unit ensuring Tier III compliance.
The LNG carriers are for delivery in 2019 and the VLCCs are due in the first half of 2018.
