Eckerö extends Wärtsilä engine service agreement

Wärtsilä highlighted the digital component of the five-year service package. One vessel has been fitted with a condition-base monitoring system, allowing for maintenance operations to be planned based on analysis of real-time data from the engines. The company will also provide spare parts, shaft seals and services for catalytic converters.

Eckerö consists of four marine companies: Birka Cruises, Eckerö Shipping, Eckerö Line and Eckerö Linjen. Its fleet consists of: cruiseship Birka Stockholm (four Wärtsilä 6L46B main engines; four Wärtsilä 6L32 auxiliary engines); ferries Finlandia (four Wärtsilä 12V46 main engines) and Eckerö; and ro-ro cargo vessels Exporter and Shipper (both Wärtsilä Vasa 16V32D main engine, two Mitsubishi, S6A2-MPTA auxiliary engines).

Dynamic maintenance planning and condition-based maintenance are part of the recently launched Wärtsilä Genius services, which aim to optimise customers’ operations through digital technologies. Dynamic maintenance planning is designed to extend maintenance intervals and reduce spare parts consumption.
