Steerprop launches upgraded ducted azimuth propulsors
The new design features lighter construction and cast housing as well as increased robustness. A slender body, smaller hub ratio and a high-performance HJ4 nozzle – increasing bollard pull and optimising nozzle positioning – contribute to improved hydrodynamic performance and better fuel economy. Anodes have also been updated to a cast shape that does not disturb flow.
A new control system has also been implemented, with new features including the ability to collect historic data on performance.
The new generation propulsors are available with both electric and hydraulic steering for direct diesel, electric motor or hybrid drive trains. A shallow draft version is also available, designed for confined spaces at the stem.
Steerprop propulsors allow for flexible installation options and have an overhaul time of 15 years or longer, further lengthened by optional condition monitoring.
