HHI’s low-speed collaboration with MAN began in 1976. Thomas Knudsen, senior vice president, head of low-speed, MAN, noted that HHI – which produces the entire MAN two-stroke portfolio – “has always played a significant role in the development of two-stroke innovation”.

“We look forward to inspiring each other for many years to come,” Knudsen added.

The engine builder’s licence with WinGD comprises the sale, manufacturing and service of the Switzerland-based designer’s low-speed marine licences. WinGD noted that as well as building its engines for several years, HHI had been pivotal in the development of its range, building the first examples of (among others) the RT-flex82C/82T and X92 engines.

Martin Wernli, CEO, WinGD, noted: “The extension will enable us to strengthen our presence in the important Korean shipbuilding market.”
