The Switch signs Chinese research agreement

Owned by state-run company CSIC, one of China’s largest shipbuilding and ship repair groups, CSIC/711 provides immediate access to the Chinese marine market through strong existing relationships with shipyards, ship owners and design offices. The Switch will provide CSIC/711 with advanced marine drive train know-how and technology, international references and access to a global network of ship builders.

Carlo Cecchi, director of business development, The Switch, said: “We see that the marine market has interesting potential and want to be a part of that journey with CSIC. The Switch will support CSIC/711 and continue building our worldwide service and support network to be close to the shipowner wherever needed.”

Plans for training sessions by The Switch have already been set and the companies said that future cooperation has been carefully planned. The companies stated a joint mission to “advance the Chinese marine industry with electrical drive trains and optimised energy use”. The Switch added that it was one of the first foreign companies to sign a partnership agreement with a leading Chinese shipbuilding conglomerate.
