Aker Langsten, one of the shipyards in the Aker Yards Group, has signed an agreement with Simon M?kster Shipping AS of Stavanger, Norway, to build a PSV (Platform Supply Vessel) for approximately $28.6 million. Delivery of the vessel is scheduled for the second quarter of 2005.
The PSV is a MT 6000 MK II. The 3,350 gt vessel is 86 metres long and was designed by Marin Teknikk, located in Tj?rvåg, Norway. The ship features diesel-electric propulsion, and is equipped for stand-by services and for freighting of methanol and other specialized cargo. It has new, optimized hull lines that result in lower fuel consumption.
