Aker launches French connection

Aker Yards Cabins in France was recently launched under the legal name of Aker Yards Cabins SAS and will provide cabins for all passenger vessels of Aker Yards, France and plans to double its production and number of employees in the next three years.

Aker Yards Cabins, France will be part of the cabins business within Aker Yards, Cruise & Ferries, including two factories in Finland and one in France. Aker Yards Cabins, Finland has in the last 25 years developed an independent and profitable business of prefabricated cabins serving yards all over Europe. The French unit will benefit from this unique expertise and both units will develop synergies in R&D, design, production, sourcing and human resources.

Located in Montoir, near St-Nazaire, the French unit has around 120 employees and 5

lines of production. By the end of the year, the 22,000 m2 factory will have 8 production lines and plan to hire 50 more persons. In the next 3 years the total production capacity of the three factories will be increased up to more than 10 000 cabin modules per year.
