Aker wins order for ropax
The departmental council of Morbihan (Brittany, France) has confirmed the option to build a second Ropax vessel at Aker Yards, Lorient, a shipyard located in Lanester, Morbihan. It is a sister ship to the ?Bangor? delivered in June 2006. With a capacity of 450 passenger and 32 cars, the newbuilding will be 46 metres long, 12 metres wide and a service speed of 12.5 knots. The EUR 13 million vessel is due for delivery in the second quarter of 2008.
The ship is designed to serve the island of Groix, in Brittany and will benefit from the unique design features of the Bangor, such as multiple access facilities in order to facilitate embarkation and disembarkation, and the transversal propulsion system, making the ship easy to manoeuvre.
