Aker Yards in Finland, which specialises in passenger vessels, has won another much needed order in the form of a new car ferry for Sea France.

The order for the 185m long vessel also includes an option for a second ship. With a breadth of 28m, the newbuilding will be the largest in the Sea France fleet to be assigned to the Dover-Calais cross channel route. It is due to be delivered in September of next year.

With a service speed of 25 knots, it will also be one of the fastest examples of such ships, and will carry 1,900 passengers, 700 cars and 120 trucks.
