Aker Yards scoop more orders

Two Norwegian yards in the Aker Yards group have clinched orders for offshore vessels. The first contract involves Aker Promar which has been awarded a contract worth approximately $45 million by NorSkan Offshore Ltda., Brazil, to build an anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessel. The newbuilding will have the designation UT 722 L, designed by Rolls-Royce, which will also be a major supplier of equipment to the project. Delivery of the 80 metre long and 18 metre wide vessel is scheduled for June 2006.

NorSkan Offshore is an offshore supply vessel company owned by Solstad Offshore ASA and DOF ASA in Norway on a 50/50 basis, and is focusing on the strong Brazilian offshore vessel market. This is the third vessel Aker Promar will be building for these Norwegian ship owners.

In the second deal, Aker Brattvaag has been awarded a contract worth approximately $32 million by DOF ASA to build a platform supply vessel of the MT 6000 type. Delivery from S?viknes Verft is scheduled for January 2006. The vessel will be 86 metres long, and 20 metres wide, and will have accommodation capacity for 24 persons.

DOF has at present a similar vessel under construction at S?viknes Verft for delivery in June 2005, and also a vessel of the design MT 6009 under construction at Brattvaag Skipsverft for delivery in October 2005. Aker Brattvaag has cooperated with DOF for a long time, and delivered several vessels to the company.
