Aker Yards win more offshore vessels
Aker Yards has been awarded a contract worth approximately $127 million by Island Offshore to build two anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels of the new Rolls Royce Marine?s UT 787 design. The contract on the second vessel includes a cancellation clause.
The 235 tonne bollard pull vessels will be built at Aker Langsten and Aker Brattvaag, both in Norway, and delivery is scheduled for December 2006 and May 2007. They will have a length of 85 metres and a beam of 22 metres.
Aker also signed a $77.5 million deal with Siem Offshore for four platform supply
vessels. These will be 73.4 metres long, 16.6 metres wide, and will have a maximum cargo capacity of 3 600 tonnes. The vessels are of Vik- Sandvik design VS 470 mk II, of which twelve vessels have been built in the past. Delivery is scheduled for 2006 and the contract includes a potential delivery of two more vessels.
