…and Greek investment continues

Dutch yard van der Giessen-de Noord has secured an order from Greek owner Strintzis Lines SA for the construction of a roro passenger ferry. The ferry company operates its passenger and freight service between Greece and Italy, and on Greek domestic routes.

The newbuilding will have a service speed of 28 knots and will cut journey times on the Adriatic route between Patras in Greece and Brindisi in Italy by five hours. Main dimensions of the vessel will include a loa of 172m and a beam of 26m. A total of 1,600 passengers will be accommodated, along with 130 trailer combinations and 106 cars.

Onboard facilities will be extensive. In addition to three restaurants, lounges, duty-free shops and various cafes, there will be a casino and a large sun deck with swimming pool. Overnight accommodation will be provided in 160 cabins including a number of deluxe suites.
