Another REM AHTS for Kleven

Kleven Verft in Ulsteinvik, Norway, has entered into contract with Norwegian ship owner REM Maritime for the construction of an advanced Rolls-Royce offshore vessel. The value of the contract is approximately $49 million.

The vessel is an anchor-handler vessel of type UT 712 L from Rolls-Royce which has been adapted to the shipowner?s needs and requirements in close co-operation between the shipowner and the yard. This is the second UT 712 L Rem Maritime has under construction at Kleven Verft.

“The vessel has several functions that make it suitable for advanced anchor-handling missions and other underwater operations,” says owner Åge Rem?y at REM Maritime. The ship owner currently has six other offshore vessels under construction at Kleven Verft in Ulsteinvik.

In addition to the UT-Design, Rolls-Royce will deliver the main engines, propulsion systems, deck machinery, stabilization system, positioning system and automation to a total value of NOK 115 million. The equipment is produced on the west coast of Norway.

The vessel is 78.30 metres long, a breadth of 17.20 metres, a bollard pull of 190 tonnes and a pulling capacity on its main winch of 400 tonnes. The vessel is scheduled for delivery in September 2008.
