Another Rem order for Kleven

Rem Maritime in Norway has ordered another UT712L anchor handling tug (AHTS) from Kleven Verft in Ulsteinvik, Norway. The vessel will be identical to two more vessels already under construction at Kleven for Rem Maritime and the value of the contract is $47 million.

The vessel is 78.3m long, with a beam of 17.2m, and bollard pull of 190 tonnes. Accommodation is for 28 persons, and the working deck is 510 m2. Delivery is scheduled for end 2008.

Ulstein SX121 tank tested in Hamburg

Ulstein Verft shipyard in Norway reports that model tests of the ULSTEIN SX121 construction ship design for Island Offshore were carried out at the Hamburgische Schiffbau-Versuchsanstalt (HSVA) in July. The tests are now finished and, although the reports are still being produced, preliminary figures show that the ship design “lives up to the expectations.”

“Messages about fulfilled expectations kept rolling in from our observer in Hamburg, ?yvind Gjerde Kamsvåg. Now, we are even more convinced that the ULSTEIN X-BOW is a brilliant hull concept,” said Ulstein Design’s design manager Håvard Stave. The ULSTEIN SX121 is the third model to be tested in model test tanks with the ULSTEIN X-BOW. Both ULSTEIN AX104 and ULSTEIN PX105 also scored highly on all disciplines for good sea keeping qualities.
