Another Ulstein design for Island Offshore

The newbuild, scheduled for May 2014 delivery, will be tailored for well intervention, IMR and SURF tasks, and will meet latest requirements for well intervention and offshore construction work. The newbuild is scheduled for delivery in May 2014.

This will be the fifth SX121 to have been built by Ulstein, as well as the fifth Ulstein-designed ship in the Island Offshore fleet. The 130m x 25m vessel will be customised to meet Island Offshore’s functional requirements, based on previous operational experience. With diesel-electric propulsion comprising three azimuthing thrusters and six gensets, the ship will be DP3 equipped and will be capable of performing subsea operations down to 3,000m depth. The vessel can be rigged for well intervention and is prepared for the laying of flexible pipes and cables on the seabed through a VLS tower (vertical lay system). It also has room for a rotating carousel below deck with a capacity to load 2,500 tons.

Other equipment will include an active heave compensated (AHC) offshore crane with a 250t capacity at 14m outreach, a below-deck winch and two deep-sea ROVs, one to be launched from the starboard side and one through the moonpool. The ship is designed with a large cargo deck for transport of equipment for a multitude of operations, and will have accommodation for 130 personnel.
