aukra – Aukra built Xanthia for AUR

The stainless steel tanker Xanthia was built for Norwegian owner Anders Utkilens Rederi (AUR) by compatriot shipbuilder Aker Aukra and was the eleventh vessel to be

delivered by this yard for the Bergen-based owner. Ordered as part of UAR?s fleet renewal

programme, the Xanthia was

the fourth and last in the 16,100 dwt series, although slightly larger at 16,865 dwt as a result of a number of modifications, which include an increase in deadweight capacity.

All 20 cargo tanks, four slop tanks, pipes and other cargo handling equipment are constructed from duplex stainless steel and longitudinal and transverse vertically corrugated bulkheads separate the tanks. The total maximum loading capacity is 18,754 m3, and the 20 hydraulically driven deep well cargo pump can load and discharge a full cargo in less than 10 hours.

Although primarily designed to carry slurry, or hydrocarbslurry, Xanthia is built to IMO 2 specifications and can carry a wide variety of clean oil products and chemicals. Heating equipment ensures that temperatures of around 70? Celsius can be maintained in all tanks. Built and classed to DNV +1A1, the hull is ice strengthened to the highest ice class for winter trading in the Baltic Sea.
