Austal wins Danish ropax order

Nordic Ferry Services in Denmark has placed an order with Austal Ships in Western Australia to deliver a ropax catamaran to operate on the route between R?nne, on the Danish island of Bornholm, and Ystad, in the south east of Sweden, for the Danish Government operated company BornholmsTrafikken. The new vessel will be 50% larger than the Auto Express 86 vehicle-passenger ferry ‘Villum Clausen’ which was built by Austal in 2000 for the Ronne – Ystad service.

The approximately $100 million newbuilding is scheduled for delivery in 2011 and will have a passenger capacity of 1,400 and be able to transport 360 vehicles.
