Automatic FLUME system in development

FLUME is a passive free surface open channel box type roll damping tank. The stabilisation system has the unique ability to adapt to changes in a vessels loading and operating condition.

Hoppe Marine has an opportunity to install the automatic FLUME system for the first time on a 15,000 TEU CMA CGM container ship. The vessel is currently under construction by Shanghai Jiangnan Changxing Shipbuilding.

In addition to automatic level optimisation and the resulting reduced supervision effort for the crew, this roll stabilisation system also offers reduction of fuel consumption, extra revenue by increased cargo capacity , more flexibility in stowage by higher positioning of heavier containers, a reduction of cargo damage and insurance claims, and increased crew safety and comfort.

The automatic mode can also be retrofi tted to FLUME systems already in operation with minimum hardware effort.
