Bach Dang Shipyard to be enlarged

The upgrading and enlargement project at Bach Dang Shipyard is expected to complete its first phase by the end of this year when 95% of the work will be done

Completed construction work to date includes two workshops for shipbuilding and hydraulic motor assembly, lengthening of the outfitting quay from 80m to 142m, and the installation of a 120 and 80 tonne crane

When completed, the enlarged shipyard will be capable of building 8 to 10 ships annually

The project is part of the approved comprehensive scheme to develop Viet Nam’s shipbuilding industry by 2010 at an and is estimated cost of over $50 million sourced from the State budget and preferential loans
