Batista to build second shipyard in Brazil

Brazilian billionaire Eike Batista is said to be planning to build a new shipyard in Rio de Janeiro. Batista, who is the owner of Offshore Services X, recently announced plans to build his first shipyard in southern Brazil.

The second shipyard would concentrate on building rigs and ships. A 1.6 million square metre area has been allocated for the facility and production is planned to start in 2010.
