Bharati bags German order
Bharati Shipyard in India bagged an order worth $103 million from Germany?s Man Ferrostaal AG for two large platform supply vessels.
The 105 m vessels will be diesel electric and fitted with two sets of Voith Schneider cycloidal propeller units. Classed with GL, they will have a service speed of 17 knots, a cargo deck area of 1,400 sq meters and a 2,500 tonne deck load. Bharati Shipyard is to carry out the detailed engineering for the vessels in its in-house design centre.
Bharati Shipyard says this will be the first time that this type of PSV with Voith Schneider propulsion unit is built in Asia.
