Bluesky orders second LNG carrier
Bluesky LNG Corporation, the Asia-based LNG owner, has ordered a second giant tanker from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME). Bluesky?s first tanker, the 145,700 cbm ?Bluesky?, is nearing completion at DSME?s yard in Korea and will be delivered in the middle of this year. The vessel is the only LNG carrier with Ice Class as well as being fully winterised to allow it to operate in some of the world?s harshest seas and most ice-bound seaports.
Bluesky?s latest order is for a 166,000 cbm gas tanker for delivery in 2010. Like the first vessel, this new-build will have a GTT No.96 membrane containment system. It is being co-designed with the yard to offer the most economic and fuel-efficient performance.
