Bore extends use of ClassNK software

The ClassNK-NAPA Green software is a joint development between classification society, ClassNK, and software house, Napa Ltd.

The software solution, which was launched in 2012, aims to improve vessel efficiency, thus reducing fuel spend and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, whilst also providing compliance with ship energy efficiency management plan (SEEMP) legislation.

Last year’s sea trials are claimed to have proved that use of NAPA operational software led to a 5.8% reduction in fuel consumption.

“Last year’s sea trial of operational software was a significant factor in our decision to choose ClassNK-NAPA Green,” said Jorgen Mansnerus, vice president, marine management, Bore.

“We are confident that this software is a wise investment that will begin to offer fuel savings aboard this vessel from installation, and proud that we are able to offer this efficiency and lowered fuel spend to the charterers who will be reaping the benefits,” he added.

The ClassNK-NAPA Green software system has also been installed onboard a new container vessel ordered by China’s Wan Hai Lines and is currently undergoing sea trials onboard vessels from the third partner in the third partner in the Class NK-NAPA Green project, Japan’s Imabari Shipbuilding.
